Top representatives of Hollywood from Universal Pictures and HBO have visited Georgia to study the country’s potential for filmmaking, whether the country’s nature, landscape, and infrastructure could be used for particular scenes in their films.
They visited Tbilisi and the regions with the members of the Georgian government-initiated project Produce and Georgia and stated last week that they are happy in what they have seen in the country.
“We often work on the films with car scenes, or dramatic films. Such scenes might be filmed in Tbilisi and the regions might be used for other scenes as if the action is taking place in different parts of the world,” one of the Hollywood representatives has told the media.
The NBO repetitive has stated that he stated that he has seen “breathtaking” place in Georgia, ancient fortresses, caved cities and others, which impressed him.
“The journey was full of new, impressive experience,” he said.
In 2016, the Georgian government announced proposals that they would offer financial support to filmmakers in an attempt to attract small and big-budget film producers to Georgia.
The initiative was part of the Produce in Georgia state program, which supported entrepreneurship and worked to increase the country’s export potential.
In 2018 the representatives from Enterprise Georgia visited Los Angeles and met vice presidents of Hollywood’s film producer companies.
The meetings were held with high officials from Disney Studios, ABC Studios, Cable Networks, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Paramount Pictures, HBO and Universal Pictures.
